Engage, Explore and Connect

Our programs are designed to meet each resident’s level of capability and offer the right balance which can help overcome challenges, as well as supporting them in achieving the best life possible.
We offer daily opportunities for residents to express themselves creatively, learn new things, connect with nature, bond with others, have fun, and stay fit.

Social Connection & Entertainment

As social engagement is crucial to well-being as we age, these events provide opportunities for joyful connection and the discovery of common interests while fostering fun and fellowship.
Our Resident Survey allows the Activity and Wellness Director to create a robust, customized calendar of events, so residents can continue to learn and grow in the ways best suited to their interests. We encourage our residents to collaborate with us creating new classes or programs, along with developing, and leading it.

Health & Physical Fitness

We offer a variety of optional instructor-led classes to enhance and maintain balance, strength, flexibility, stress resiliency, cardiorespiratory, brain function and all aspects of health and well-being.

Lifelong Learning

Our programs include technology classes, book clubs, music therapy, and creative arts programs and other forums through partnerships with outside providers, libraries, art centers and museums.
Civic & Professional Involvement. Through partnerships with local charities, organizations and schools, these public service events and mentorships provide opportunities to share wisdom and shape the greater community’s future.

Religion & Spirituality

These programs support an awareness of the meaning of life through religious beliefs, the development and growth of inner peace, ideals, and a reverence for our interconnectedness with all living beings.

Rehabilitation Services

Laurel Ridge’s collaboration with outside Rehabilitation brings therapy to your door. Centered upon a proactive approach, where clinicians focus on improving strength, stamina, and balance so you can continue to thrive. Vocational Rehab services are also available to eligible and interested consumers who want to overcome barriers to accessing, maintaining, or returning to employment or other useful occupation.

Assistive Technology Program

Our assistive technology program provides a way for our residents to connect socially. By giving them access to the internet, it provides them with the opportunity to connect with family through video chats or emails. It also gives them a way to reconnect with the world around them and learn about what is going on in the news today and keep them up to date about current events.

Our program offers a sense of inclusion because now our residents may access any information they want and are able to engage in conversations with others about what is going on in the world around them.  This gives them opportunities to have one on one with someone to teach them how to use technology, which is highly beneficial for those individuals who may be physically or cognitively challenged.

Assistive technology provides a sense of independence by allowing residents to search for what they want and enjoy things that interest them.  It offers a sense of fulfillment, because residents will now be able to access an abundant amount of information at the click of a button.

Music Therapy Program

Our music therapy program can be an instrumental part in directing a person’s attention away from their pain and can help lessen stress, anxiety, and depression. Playing or listening to music helps you breathe rhythmically. This can improve respiratory health, help you release body tension, and lift up your mood — all of which can positively impact your overall quality of life. Music therapy’s aim is to allow people to address issues and express themselves in a way that they normally can’t with words alone.

Participants will learn how a single idea or sound can transform into a song, take inspiration from the sounds around us, and try new instruments to bring our musical ideas to life.
The right music can be an encouraging tool to help you be more physically active. More movement, whether that’s walking, dancing, or stretching along with music, can improve the following:

  • Heart and cardiovascular health
  • Muscle strength
  • Bone density
  • Balance and coordination
  • Flexibility

Absolutely no previous experience is required, just a love of music!

The Benefits of Creative Arts

Our Creative Arts Program provides opportunities to voice and express life experiences, especially when words fail.

Art and creativity can help to maintain cognitive abilities. It can assist in creating and strengthening new associations and reinforce connections and memories that are already present which can help to work through, and process life events.

Accessibility to art for older adults provides them with the opportunities to express inner experiences in a visual and contained way and can easily be adapted to highlight the strengths and abilities of an individual which allows them to continue to participate even when there are physical or cognitive limitations.

Many individuals need to feel productive and have a sense of purpose as they age. Creative Art introduces healthy outlets and coping skills as well as providing a sense of purpose, mastery, and accomplishment.
